What medium was your favorite to work with? Explain why and how you were able to master the techniques associated with this medium.
A medium I felt was my favorite to work with has to be painting. I really like painting because if you mess up you can always go back and fix your mistakes. When it comes to acrylic paint it is easy to blend and you can create any color you want. When I was working on our last project I felt like I really did a great job creating clouds, trees, and the water. After this project I think I fell in love with it not only because the place itself is meaningful to me but that I was able to get it to look the same. I never really thought the outcome of the painting would come out the way it did. After this experience I sure want to keep painting and get better at it.

Discuss one project where you felt you were the least successful. Explain why you felt this way. What would you do differently to change this piece? Explain
One project I felt I was the least successful in was the guest artist water color dig port. First of all I felt like I didn't know what I was doing mostly because I kept adding color at random. This project was sure a different style of art I have never done or heard of before. It was really hard for me to make it look realistic since I couldn't really take control or erase parts I didn't like. When i peeled off all the remaining i was not happy with the results. If I were to do this project all over again I would probably add way more color to make it it bold and not light. That way the bold spikes on the fruit would make it look realistic. Another thing I would do differently would be to practice more before doing the actual project.

Look at your body of work over the semester and choose 2 pieces that show your growth as an artist. Discuss each piece and how you grew in the following areas: application of materials, techniques and skills, artistic vision, use of the principles and elements, creativity, intuition and subject matter.
Over the semester the two pieces that showed my growth in my opinion would be the artist painting and the self portrait. The painting of Jordan lake has to my favorite of all. I never really thought the outcome of the painting would look realistic and very close to the original photo. I think I have grown in being able to add volume because in this painting you are able to see the different values in the water and sky. It is scary to add dark colors in a painting full of other light colors but I think I was able to pull it off. My other piece I feel I was successful in is the self portrait. The most difficult part about this project has to be only being able to use three colors. I think I grew in using the mixing technique with color pencils. Even though it was not the exact color I think I was able to achieve a really close color. I was also able to make it look exactly like me which was the goal.

How do you describe your artistic style/perspective? How do you define success as an artist? What do you find most rewarding about being an artist? What are some of the most important skills you draw upon to create your work? What are some of the most significant things you've learned through art-making?
I would describe my style as taking a real photo and making it look realistic but fantasy at the same time. I define success in an artist by them taking something but creating it their own. When it comes to painting or drawing I usually make my paintings meaningful to me. For example for the Jordan Lake painting I tried to make it look realistic but at the same time i made it look fake and the reason is because when i was in the moment of taking a picture i felt peaceful but in reality its really hard to bring peace to this world knowing that the world is very dangerous know a days. I"ve learned that when making art you should put your all into it for it to be successful and significant.
